President Park Geun-Hye is expected to decide on the fate of Prime Minister Lee One-Koo, who is embroiled in a high-profile bribery scandal, after her official visit to South America.

Park reportedly left behind the intention regarding the matter on Thursday after an unexpected meeting with ruling Saenuri Party Chairman Kim Moo-Sung. The meeting was called by Park shortly before her departure.

In the meeting, Park pledged to seek every measure including launching a special counsel to settle suspicions surrounding the scandal, according to the ruling party leader.

Lee has been under fire after a late former businessman left a memo which states recipients of his bribes including Lee. However, Lee denied receiving any money but vowed to quit if any evidence that he took money is found.

Meanwhile, Rep. Moon Jae-In, chairman of the main opposition New Politics Alliance for Democracy warned that his party will seek a motion to the National Assembly to impeach the prime minister if he continues to ignore calls to resign.
