〔안정원의 디자인 칼럼〕 20개 외피구조 구들이 펼치는 신비로운 교감

● 멋진 세상 속 건축디자인_ 시튜이에션 룸 Situation Room, 20개 외피구조 구들이 펼치는 신비로운 교감

이 작품은 아티스트 Jana Winderen의 음향 작업이 더해진, 가벼우면서도 매우 얇은 자기 지지형의 외피 구조로 형성된 구조물이다.

전반적인 형태는 증분하는 지름을 가진 20개 구들이 결합하여 구성된다. 이는 알려진 것에 대한 편안함과 알려지지 않은 것과의 불편한 상호작용간의 일종의 숭고한 대화를 표현하고 있다. 그 결과로 생긴 형태는 일련의 신호 변환 장치와 구조적 압력에 기인한 기공 흐름에서 생성되는 광원들에 의해 점차 확장된다.

외피는 구들을 결합하고 내재된 이중 곡률을 통해 견고함을 제공하는 불리언 작업에 의해 형성된다. 평탄해진 구가 교차하는 지점들의 반전된 곡률은 내부에서 뻗어나가는 연결망과 혼합되면서 연결 강도를 보강한다.

내부의 연결망은 세분화되고 재결합됨으로써 최종적으로 지면에 하중을 전달하는 기둥의 역할을 한다. 구들이 고밀도로 결합함에 따라 복잡한 내부 형태가 만들어지며, 압축/팽창, 연결성, 결절, 아치 등에 의해 공간에 대한 풍부한 레퍼토리를 형성한다. >>An installation by MARC FORNES/ THEVERYMANY and Jana Winderen, 기사 출처_ 에이앤뉴스 AN NEWS(ANN NEWS CENTER) 제공

Marc Fornes
Marc Fornes is an architect founder and principal of the THEVERYMANY a multi-disciplinary studio practicing architecture through systematic research and development into applied Computer Science and Digital Fabrication. His prototypical structures and unique organic environments are part of the permanent collections such as the Centre Pompidou, the FRAC Centre and the CNAP. Marc is a TED Fellow and was artist in residence at the Atelier Calder. His practice has been awarded New Practices New York by the AIA, the Architectural League Prize, Design Vanguard by Architectural Record, and the WAN 21 for 21 Award. Marc has been a visiting professor at Princeton, Harvard GSD, Columbia University, USC and Die Angewandte. He currently lives in New York.

Jana Winderen
Jana Winderen is an artist educated in Fine Art at Goldsmiths College in London, and with a background in mathematics, chemistry and fish ecology from the University in Oslo. Jana's work consists of researching hidden depths with the latest technology and her work reveals the complexity and strangeness of the unseen world beneath. Jana is artist-in-residence at the TBA21 Academy and releases her audio-visual works on Touch. In 2011 she won the Golden Nica, Ars Electronica, for Digital Musics & Sound Art. Amongst her activities are immersive multi-channel installations and concerts and has performed all over the world. She currently lives and works in Oslo.
