Female peace activists are planning a walk in May across the Demiliterized Zone (DMZ), which bisects the Korean Peninsula, to wish for inter-Korean peace.

The organizers of WomenCrossDMZ.org, made the announcement on Wednesday at the United Nations in New York. They said that they are waiting for permission from North Korea.

Around 30 female advocates will participate in the march which is set to start from the North to cross into South Korea on May 24.

Walkers will include Nobel peace laureates Mairead Maguire of Northern Ireland and Leymah Gbowee of Liberia, who were recognized for contributing to peace in their respective countries.
