Among the 17 cities and provinces nationwide, Seoul, Ulsan, and Chungnam had the highest total wages per worker.

According to the results of a survey on wages and working hours by city and province as of April released by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the total wages per worker in businesses with one or more regular workers in Seoul was the highest in the country with an average of 4,599,000 won per month.

In the case of Ulsan, it came in second with 4,548,000 won per month, and the total wages of workers in Seoul and Ulsan rose 3.6% and 2.9%, respectively, from last year.

Jeju had the lowest total wages for workers, with 3,228,000 won in wages, while Gangwon, Jeonbuk, and Daegu also had relatively low wages.

The average monthly working hours of one business worker was the longest in Gyeongnam at 172 hours, while Ulsan, Chungnam, Chungbuk, Incheon, and Sejong were also higher than the national average of 167.7 hours.
