Since today (1st), night street drinking has been banned around Shibuya Station in Tokyo, Japan, where many foreign tourists visit.Shibuya District, which has jurisdiction over

, said it will implement an ordinance on prohibiting drinking on the street at night, which passed parliament in June.

The ordinance prohibits drinking throughout the year from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the streets and parks around Shibuya Station.

Shibuya-gu has been operating an ordinance prohibiting street drinking only for a certain period of time, including Halloween, but has extended the ban to the entire year as problems surrounding street drinking continue.
