Asiatic black bears, the first-class endangered wild life, were selected as the "Endangered Wild Life of the Month" in October by the Ministry of Environment.

The Asiatic black bear is covered with glossy black fur all over its body, and has a half-moon-shaped white pattern on its front chest.

In particular, it has been reported that white patterns are different in size for each individual and have no patterns at all.

Until 70 years ago, it was seen all over Korea, but due to indiscriminate poaching, only five animals survived in the early 2000s.

Since then, the proliferation and restoration project has been promoted, and it is estimated that about 80 animals are currently living in the Jirisan area.
