Korea's exports increased by more than 7% last month.

Despite the reduced number of working days due to the Chuseok holiday, it was the best performance in September ever with $58.8 billion this year.

For the 12th month in a row, exports continued to rise from the same month last year.Looking at the average export value of

days alone, it is also noticeable that it recorded an all-time high of $2.94 billion.

By item, exports of semiconductors, the largest export item, topped the all-time high of $13.6 billion, marking the 11th consecutive month of increase.

[Kim Yang-Peng / Industrial Research Institute Specialist: It seems to be the effect of production cuts by Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix. The overall demand recovery is still not very noticeable, but the shift in unit prices due to the effect of production cuts and the part where basic demand continues (we believe it has had an impact).

Exports of automobiles, the second-largest export item, were $5.5 billion, the highest in September, and exports of wireless communication devices, ships and biohealth all increased.

By region, China's trade balance has returned to the black for the first time in seven months, with a $500 million surplus thanks to increased exports.

Exports to the United States rose more than 3% to $1.4 billion in September, the highest on record, and exports to the European Union also rose more than 5%, marking the second straight month of record monthly exports.

Imports rose more than 2% to $52.1 billion in September, while the trade balance remained in the black for the 16th straight month, posting a $6.7 billion surplus.

The government said this year's exports are clearly showing what it calls a "high" trend and that it will provide all-out support to keep the positive trend going until the end of the year.
