As soon as Huawei's world's first triple-fold phone (three-layer foldable phone) was released, it was embroiled in a controversy over its quality.

According to the industry on the 2nd, Huawei's foldable phone "Mate XT" is being pointed out on YouTube and social media (SNS).

In particular, there have been a series of cases of damage, such as the formation of thick and black lines in the hinge part where the screen folds.

Triple Fold Phone Mate XT can be folded twice in the shape of the alphabet Z by applying both infolding and outfolding at the same time. When unfolded, it grows like a tablet PC, but it is only 3.6mm thick and weighs 360 grams.

The price ranges from 3.8 million won to 4.6 million won, but despite the high price range, pre-orders exceeded 6.6 million.

However, concerns about durability have also been raised due to the nature of folding twice. In particular, it was controversial, including the sentence "Do not unfold your smartphone at temperatures below zero and below 5 degrees Celsius" in the product precautions.

Among them, official sales began on the 20th of last month, and the controversy is intensifying as consumers' cases of screen damage continue in about a week.

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics is also implementing a smartphone technology that folds twice to estimate the launch timing. It has already unveiled "Flex G," which folds twice within 2022, and "Flex S," which folds twice inside and out.

Another Chinese company, Xiaomi, is also known to have obtained a patent for the triple fold product and is developing it, and it is expected to be released as early as next year.
