Epic Games, a U.S. game company that is a game developer such as Fortnite and operates an online package game store, has filed an antitrust lawsuit against Google and Samsung Electronics in federal court in Northern California.

According to foreign media, Tim Sweeney, founder and CEO of Epic Games, emphasized, "We will file an anti-trust law lawsuit against Samsung Electronics and Google, which conspired to prevent competition in app distribution," and explained, "It is a suspicion of conspiring to prevent competition in app distribution."

The background of the lawsuit is that Samsung Electronics changed its "Auto Blocker" function, which has been applied to Galaxy since last year, to its default setting when it updated "OneUI 6" in July.

When this function is activated, it plays a role in blocking the installation of apps downloaded from the platform in addition to the official app market such as Google Play Store. For this reason, it is argued that game users often give up installation because if they try to install games sold in Epic Games app markets on Samsung Galaxy models, a warning message appears and they have to go through 21 steps to install."We ask the court to order Google and Samsung Electronics to ban anti-competitive and unfair practices, remove the automatic security risk blocking default and boost competition," said

Tim Sweeney, founder and CEO.
