In response to the TV debate between the U.S. presidential vice presidential candidates, most U.S. media have evaluated that Republican candidate Senator JD Vance won by decision.

The New York Times said, "The overall debate process most symbolically showed why former President Trump chose Vance as his running mate," adding, "Vance stood out in the debate more than any other Republican candidate in recent years and explained Trump's achievements better than Trump himself."

The Washington Post said, "Minnesota Gov. Walz struggled, and Congressman Vance focused on improving his image."

According to the Washington Post's direct questioning of 22 swing voters in the contested state, 63% of respondents said Vance did better.

U.S. media said Vance, who has been embroiled in frequent gossip in the past due to a series of verbal mistakes, including his "childless cat lady" remarks, has succeeded in purifying his image with the debate, while Governor Walz, who has approached the public with his characteristic ease, has taken a considerable amount of time to adjust to the debate and has been relatively behind Vance in terms of content.
