The Korean Medical Association urged the government to immediately stop the on-site audit, saying that Seoul National University Medical School's approval of medical student leave of absence to normalize medical education is justified.

The medical association said in a briefing after a joint meeting of medical professionals yesterday that it strongly supports the decision of Seoul National University Medical School to approve applications for leave of absence for medical students who oppose wrong medical policies.

He also expressed regret over the Ministry of Education's unfair on-site inspection and strict censure policy, adding that he strongly calls for its immediate cancellation.

He then stressed that the Ministry of Education should cancel the notice of threatening measures sent to each school, saying he hopes the right decision by Seoul National University Medical School will spread to medical schools nationwide.

Lee Jong-dae, chairman of the Korea Medical University and Medical School Association, also attended the meeting and said that as the dean has autonomous authority to operate a school, Seoul National University Medical School has taken normal procedures, and that the Ministry of Education should consider this.
