The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said it has detected 397 suspected illegal transactions as a result of the first on-site inspection and planning investigation of abnormal housing transactions in the Seoul metropolitan area jointly conducted with related agencies.
Specifically, transactions suspected of giving expedient gifts, misappropriation of loan funds, and false reports on the contract date included cases in which SNS open chat rooms encouraged people not to request brokerage for apartment complexes in Seoul below a certain price.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport also explained that it detected back 60 suspected illegal transactions last year and notified related agencies such as the National Tax Service in a "unregistered transaction" with concerns of false reporting and a direct transaction investigation with possible expedient gifts, which is conducted regularly every year.
In addition, a planned survey will be conducted by the end of the year to prevent damage from suspicious transactions in planned real estate and eradicate foreign speculation.
