According to the data received by Jeon Jin-sook of the Democratic Party of Korea, a member of the National Assembly's Health and Welfare Committee, 91 out of 217 public medical institutions nationwide as of June did not meet the number of doctors.
A total of 3,563 doctors were lacking, including 2,831 university hospitals under the Ministry of Education, 309 local medical centers, 109 veterans hospitals, 107 national medical centers, and 71 medical institutions under the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
Of the 1,570 local health care institutions, 131 also failed to fill the capacity, with the minimum number of doctors required to be deployed to health centers, health care centers and health centers nationwide at 1,956 but only 1,466 in actual deployment.
Due to the hiring, the annual salary of doctors offered by public medical institutions continues to rise, and Mokpo Medical Center in Jeollanam-do proposed an annual salary of 620 million won last year to hire an orthopedic surgeon, and Uljin Medical Center also offered an annual salary of 560 million won to hire a radiologist.
