The typhoon Kraton hit southwestern Taiwan, a densely populated area, for the first time since Typhoon Elsie in 1966, causing a series of damage.
Authorities in Taiwan say two people have been killed, two missing and more than 120 injured, including one man.
It said there were also 10,000 residents on emergency evacuations.
Strong winds and heavy rain damaged power lines everywhere, causing more than 100,000 households to lose power, and domestic flights were also suspended altogether.
