People's Power "Lee Hwa-young's Attendance Hearing, Self-Proclaimed Defense for Democratic Criminals"

The People's Power criticized the Democratic Party of Korea for claiming to be a lawyer for criminals over its attendance at the impeachment hearing of the National Assembly's prosecutor, Lee Hwa-young, who was sentenced to prison in the first trial for the Ssangbangwool remittance case.

Floor leader Choo Kyung-ho said in a floor meeting that the hearing has been reduced to a venue for Lee's unilateral false argument under arrest.

He then argued that it was an attempt to overturn the first trial's ruling and that he exercised undue influence on the upcoming trial of Lee Jae-myung's remittance to North Korea.

Rep. Yoo Sang-beom also pointed out that the hearing was a place of excuse for repeating the arguments Lee had made in court like a parrot and a place of damaging the separation of powers for the party's leader, Bangtan.

He emphasized that if he sided with fake news and false statements, criminal investigations of those in power would be impossible and corruption would be rampant.
