Drug administration and emergency delivery umbilical cord amputation were added to the scope of emergency rescue workers' work.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare has promulgated some amendments to the enforcement regulations of the Emergency Medical Service Act.

According to the amendment, the scope of work for first-class emergency responders has increased from 14 types to 19 types, including administration of epinephrine in case of cardiac arrest, anaphylactic shock, and umbilical cord amputation in case of emergency delivery.

Umbilical cord amputation during emergency delivery was only performed when there was real-time imaging medical guidance from a supervisor during field transfer.

The basis for the "Pre-Hospital Severity Classification Criteria," which is used by 119 paramedics who transfer emergency patients to hospitals to find appropriate hospitals by classifying the severity of patients, has also been newly created.

This amendment will be applied from January 1st next year, and the revision of the pre-hospital severity classification criteria for 119 paramedics will be applied immediately after promulgation.
