A T'way Airlines flight returned shortly after takeoff due to smoke in the cabin.

T'way Airlines said that the TW723 flight to Jeju, which took off from Gimpo International Airport at 2:25 p.m. today (4th), immediately after takeoff, smoke rose from the cabin and returned to Gimpo Airport 24 minutes after takeoff to make an emergency landing.

T'way Airlines said 158 passengers were on board the flight, explaining that no one was hurt by the smoke.

The aircraft will be put back into service after authorities investigate and scrutinize the cause of the fire.

As a result, T'way Airlines had a replacement flight with another aircraft take off at 4:30 p.m., resulting in a departure delay of about two hours.

T'way Airlines said it is sorry for the inconvenience caused to passengers due to the inevitable occurrence of safety checks and explained that it will proceed with the compensation process according to the standards.
