It has been confirmed that the government received FIFA's "warning official letter" from the Korea Football Association before announcing the results of an interim audit of the appointment process of head coach Hong Myung-bo.

Even though they confirmed the defect in the procedure, it seems that it may have affected the slightly ambiguous attitude that it is difficult to invalidate the contract.

Reporter Youngsoo Kim reports.

On the day when soccer figures, including head coach Hong Myung-bo, participated in the National Assembly, the government's stance was stubborn.

[Yoo In-chon / Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (April 24th, National Assembly Question): (When announcing the audit results), the wrong point should be pointed out clearly, and the football association should decide on the coach's future after that.]

Soon after, he hinted at the need for re-election, saying that if the audit reveals unfair facts, the process should be taken again.

Two days before the announcement of the government's audit results, even the president of Yoon Suk Yeol came forward.

After receiving the audit results, he repeatedly emphasized fair procedures and even instructed improvement measures.

But when I opened the lid, the focus was on the independence and autonomy of the Korea Football Association.

[Choi Hyun-jun / Inspector General of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (last 2nd): (Coach Hong Myung-bo's future is expected to be reviewed by the Korea Football Association and judged autonomously from the perspective of public opinion, common sense and fairness]

While clarifying that the appointment of director Hong Myung-bo was opaque and unfair, he was not active in follow-up measures.

However, he emphasized the independence and autonomy of the Korea Football Association several times.

The YTN report confirmed that FIFA's "warning official letter" that political interference with the Korea Football Association could be sanctioned was included in the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism before the audit results were announced.

On the 30th of last month, the Korea Football Association, which received this official letter from FIFA, announced the fact to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

An official from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said there are no plans to respond to this separately, but there is an interpretation that FIFA may have been conscious not to cross the "line."

The announcement of the results of an audit of the overall administration of the Korea Football Association is expected at the end of this month.

Rather than the appointment of a coach that FIFA is watching, there is a possibility that intensive measures will be taken in the administrative sector, such as the government subsidy project, which has a clear justification for dealing with it.
