Lebanon to nearly 10,000 casualties in three weeks of Israeli attack

In Lebanon, large-scale Israeli airstrikes in less than three weeks have resulted in around 9,000 casualties, CNN reported on the 4th local time, citing the local health ministry.

Of these, more than 1,400 people died, including 127 children, and nearly 7,500 were injured.

On the 23rd of last month alone, at least 558 people, including 50 children and 94 women, were killed.

Israel has said Lebanon's pro-Iranian airstrikes are targeting militant Hezbollah, but the damage to civilians is also believed to be significant.

If Israel continues its airstrikes and expands ground warfare, it is feared that casualties will reach 10,000 soon.

British conflict monitoring group Airwars said Israel's recent airstrikes were the world's most intense air campaign in the last two decades, except in the Palestinian Gaza Strip.

Lebanon's health ministry estimated that more than a million people, a fifth of the population, had fled the country.

More than 100 villages in southern Lebanon are now under evacuation orders, raising fears of an Israeli military escalating ground war.
