The Korean Central News Agency reported that Chairman Kim sent a congratulatory message to President Xi, saying, "We will continue to make efforts to develop the Korea-China friendly cooperation relationship solidly to meet the needs of the new era."
He added, "It is in the fundamental interests of the two countries to continue to inherit and develop the Joseon-China friendship, which has a long history and excellent tradition."
The news agency said President Xi also sent Kim a congratulatory message, saying, "Traditional Sino-North Korean friendship has overcome the trials of changes in the times and changes in the international situation, and has become a valuable wealth between the two countries and the people."
Chairman Kim and President Xi previously exchanged celebrations for the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2019.
