The Incheon District Court ruled against the plaintiff in a lawsuit filed by a former maritime police officer A against a local coast guard chief and ordered him to bear all the costs of the lawsuit.
The court pointed out that even if married A had consulted for divorce several times, remarks such as asking him to sleep were sufficient to make the victim feel that he/she considered himself/herself a sexual object, and that the content of sexual harassment was very malicious.
Mr. A was fired for sexually harassing his unmarried co-worker, B, several times in 2022, while working as a coast guard, or mentioning Mr. B's physical characteristics in a group chat room with a fellow police officer.
The inspection department determined that A made more than 10 sexual harassment remarks and caused fear by continuing to contact victims and asking them to eat or shop while making accusatory comments to colleagues around him.
