U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris said she will continue to put pressure on Israel for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Asked if the U.S. has no influence over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a video released before the CBS current affairs program "60 Minutes," Vice President Harris made the remarks.

Harris stressed that the U.S. has clarified its principles and continues to consult with the Israeli leadership, explaining that those principles include releasing hostages and the need for negotiations for a ceasefire in Gaza.

It also said security aid provided by the U.S. allowed Israel to defend itself and its people from 200 ballistic missiles fired by Iran, adding that it was the U.S. duty to do what it could to allow Israel to defend itself.
