Democratic Party of Korea deputy Seung-chan, a member of the National Assembly's National Defense Committee, said a survey of job satisfaction by the Korea Institute of Defense Studies showed that job satisfaction among military officials has declined significantly over the past three years since 2020.

Based on data from the Korea Institute of Defense, the deputy said the overall satisfaction of military executives fell 27.0 percentage points to 44.9 percent in the 2020 survey, compared with 71.9 percent in the 2020 survey.

It also added that in terms of job satisfaction by class, satisfaction among the semi- and non-commissioned officers fell from 75.8% to 44%, down 16.2%p and 24%p in 2023 compared to 2020, respectively.

By each of the four counties, job satisfaction among Navy officers was the lowest at 36.8% in 2023, satisfaction among Air Force officers was the highest at 52.9%, and the Army fell 29.6% in three years to 49.6% in 2023, compared to 79.2% in 2020.

In order to solve the problem, the deputy emphasized that it is urgent to thoroughly analyze and improve the causes of dissatisfaction of all executives, especially the semi- and non-commissioned officers, whose satisfaction has fallen significantly.
