Second day of state visit to the Philippines,

The Yoon Suk Yeol President and his wife began their official schedule by attending an official welcoming ceremony at Malakanyan Palace, which serves as the office and official residence of the Philippine President.

President Yoon then held a summit meeting with Philippine President Marcos for more than an hour, formed a strategic partnership, and adopted a joint declaration.

First, the two leaders agreed to strengthen strategic cooperation in the areas of national defense, defense and maritime security, including expanding the participation of our military in multinational joint exercises in the Philippines.

[Yoon Suk Yeol / President: A new chapter in Korea-Philippines relations has been opened by establishing a strategic partnership. The two countries agreed to strengthen strategic cooperation in the security field.]

Subsequently, we decided to further revitalize economic cooperation and expand our scope, and signed a series of memorandums of understanding to specify this.

The Philippines seeks to expand the participation of Korean companies by providing the largest amount of support to our foreign economic cooperation fund ever for large-scale transportation and bridge construction projects.

[Park Chun-seop / Senior Secretary for Economic Affairs, Presidential Office: Supporting the development of the Philippines' regional economy and supporting Korean companies' orders for large infrastructure projects, the two countries are "win-win"....]

At the same time, they signed an MOU to investigate the feasibility of resuming the construction of the Batan nuclear power plant in the Philippines, which was suspended 40 years ago in the aftermath of the U.S. nuclear accident, and decided to visualize nuclear power cooperation.

[Kim Tae-hyo / First Deputy Director of the National Security Office: Being selected as the preferred bidder for the construction of a new nuclear power plant in the Czech Republic, it will be an optimal partner for nuclear power plant cooperation with the Philippines....]

We will also cooperate closely to ensure the safety of Korean tourists and Korean residents visiting the Philippines.

I also agreed that North Korea's nuclear development and provocations and illegal military cooperation between North Korea and Russia could never be tolerated.President

Yoon held a state luncheon hosted by President Marcos and strengthened the diplomatic relationship between the two countries.

President Yoon, who wrapped up his two-day state visit to the Philippines, will also seek ways to promote practical cooperation through a summit in Singapore, his second visit.
