Members of the Democratic Party of Korea of Sejong City Council said they have decided to cut the budget for the 2026 International Garden City Fair.

Members of the same party, including Kim Hyun-ok, floor leader of the Sejong City Council, held a press conference and criticized Mayor Choi Min-ho's hunger strike, calling for the passage of the budget bill, saying that it is a pushy administration to build conflict.

He then said, "We need to prepare for the International Garden Fair through step-by-step preparation," and added, "I sincerely appeal to stop fasting and realize policies for people's livelihoods and pledges for people's livelihoods with the city council."

Sejong Mayor Choi Min-ho has been holding a crackdown sit-in for two days, calling for the passage of the budget bill for pledge projects such as the International Garden City Fair and the Light Festival.
