Environmental groups have claimed that toxic substances that cause green algae have been detected in the bodies of residents near the Nakdonggang River.

The Nakdonggang River Network and the Environmental Movement Union held a press conference yesterday (7th) at the Environmental Movement Union in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and said they collected samples from the noses of 102 fishermen and environmental activists in the Nakdonggang River basin.

The group first announced the results of 22 tests, and explained that cyanobacteria, a toxic substance that causes green algae, were detected in 11 people, half of them.

He then urged the government to come up with fundamental measures against the green algae problem, saying eight of them showed symptoms such as sneezing.
