Two years ago, the European Space Agency's probe was launched to examine the progress of the so-called Earth defense experiment, which changes the orbit of an asteroid by colliding a spacecraft with an asteroid.

The European Space Agency says the asteroid probe Hera was successfully launched from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida with SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket on board. The

Hera probe will travel by Mars to reach the Didymos-Dimorphos asteroid system, approximately 195 million km from Earth, in 2026.The

Hera probe will check the shape, mass, heat, and dynamic flight status of the two asteroids and launch two small satellites on their own to send information to Earth after close observation.

In 2022, the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) crashed a Dart spacecraft into Dimorphos, a small asteroid orbiting Didymos, changing the orbit of Dimorphos, proving that it is possible to defend Earth with a spacecraft collision.
