Citing Israeli officials, Israel's largest news site Walla reported that Sinwar had recently sent a message to Hamas' negotiating delegation in Qatar.
The official said he sent multiple messages to the negotiators, although it was unclear when Shinwar would be contacted.
Saudi Arabia's state-run Al-Arabia broadcaster reported that Sinwar had also resumed contact with the Qatari side, which mediates ceasefire negotiations, but had not taken an active stance on the ceasefire.
An Israeli official told the Walla that Sinwar did not appear to have relaxed his existing position on the terms of the ceasefire.
Citing sources, Israeli Channel 12 reported that Sinwar has been out of touch because Israel has decided that it is not interested in negotiating a ceasefire.
Sinwar took over after Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas's top political leader, went on a bombing in July in an assassination attack believed to have been carried out by Israel in the Iranian capital Tehran.
