China's Dandong Embankment 2.5m...Build higher to stop the flood.

Restoration work has been underway for more than two months in the Yalu River basin in North Korea, which suffered a major flood last summer.

Chairman Kim Jong-un's order to take care of speed and quality is being enforced day and night.

Correspondent Kang Jeong-gyu captured the scene in Dandong, China.

[Reporter]
Dredging ships with the flag of the North Korean Republic are constantly scouring the Yalu River and scooping up soil.

Construction of the embankment is in full swing along the Sinuiju River.

It's a method of stacking soil and hitting a wall with bricks, and two adults look about tall.

It is built higher than the Chinese Dandong embankment (2.5m), which was blamed for the increase in flood damage at the end of July.

[Chinese Dandong resident] Originally, the embankment was very small. I raised it high this time. If you look closely, there are traces of the old bank.]

Red flags fly along the river of Wihwado Island, which is building more than 10 buildings at the same time.

It also put up a political slogan to praise the young North Koreans for volunteering 300,000 people to restore flood damage.

Except for the safety helmet, workers close to their bare hands stick together and stack them even more.

Since there are no concrete pouring vehicles, water is grown and moved with a forklift, and aggregates are put in a bag and pulled up by crane.

Chinese cruise ship tourists capture the scenery of the construction site, which seems to have stopped time about half a century ago, curiously.

As the 16-story "living house" has risen in just a month, Dandong residents across the river are just sticking their tongues out.

[Chinese Dandong Taxi Driver: 24 hours a day. Since we don't sleep at night and are under construction, we build a building in a month.]

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, who visited the restoration site three times and ordered a speed war, continues day and night.

Due to insufficient power conditions, there are only one or two lights, and we are continuing to work with sparks in the pitch-black darkness.

In addition to the so-called "supreme dignity" push, the urgency to complete the construction, which has been widened until the winter cold wave in the northernmost part of the Korean Peninsula hits, has also been laid.

I'm Kang Jeonggyu from Dandong, China.
