The stench of livestock raising cows and pigs is not something that happened yesterday and today.

Various policies are being implemented to address this issue:

The yellow lacquer from the coast of Jeollanam-do is emerging as an alternative to reducing the odor.

Reporter Kim Bum-hwan reports.

It is a farm where young people raise Korean beef after their father.

About 60 Korean beefs in clean and dry livestock are in good health.

Unlike other barns, it hardly smells.

[Choi Donghyuk / Young start-up farmer: After feeding him, I can see that the cows' intake has increased, and the cows' bowel movements are well digested, so it smells less, so I fed him a little more]

The situation is similar even though it is a low-pressure weather with a bad smell.

This is thanks to eco-friendly livestock for coexistence between livestock farmers and local residents.

There is Hwangchil, a representative specialty of Jeollanam-do, known as 'tree ginseng' under the scientific name and 'bulgocho' in the past.

[CEO: The probiotic products made of patented yellow lacquer extract help reduce odor in livestock, increase the growth rate of livestock, and improve immunity. It is reported that the use of cattle, goats, chickens and ducks improves the environment of livestock and makes livestock healthy.]

[Yoon Soon-Sung / Gwangju-Jeonnam-do Branch President: Just as our people eat good food and digest well, our farts don't smell, our cows also have good digestion and absorption rates, so they don't smell]

Jeollanam-do is also actively conducting various studies and policies to reduce the odor of livestock.

[Choi Young-sun / Head of Livestock Environment Team, Jeonnam Agricultural Research & Extension Services: We are studying odor reduction by using various physical, chemical, and biological methods. In particular, Korean beef farms are promoting the development and research of low-methane feed to reduce methane generation as well as improve the livestock environment.

Thousands of foul-smelling complaints are received by local governments nationwide.

The collaboration between professional research institutes, farmers, and yellow lacquer processed start-ups is contributing to solving the chronic odor problem of livestock.
