Overseas employment fraud using high profits as bait is rampant in Southeast Asia.

It has increased 50 times in two years, pointing out that the government needs more thorough supervision of management.

Reporter Kim Da-yeon reports.

The movie "Citizen Duckhee," based on a true story, features a young man who was tricked by a high-profit recruitment advertisement and was forced to work at a Chinese call center.

"I really want to go out."

In fact, such cases are frequent, but recently, a group of investment scammers who attracted tens of billions of won by imprisoning a young man with a dream of finding a job abroad and participating in the crime were caught.

The site of the outbreak is mainly the 'Golden Triangle' area where Myanmar, Laos, and Thailand meet, and the scale of related damage is also on the rise.

Compared to the whole of 2022 and the first half of this year, the number of victims has increased by nearly 50 times.

The six-month tally alone exceeded last year's total figure.

Cambodia had the most victims, with as many as 100 people.

The problem is that such high-yield bait overseas employment scams are penetrating everywhere in daily life through online job advertisements.

The actual reporters were also able to find the recruitment announcement without difficulty.

When I contacted him after seeing the announcement of hiring counselors to work abroad, he replied less than a minute later.

He constantly recites his relaxed working conditions and is misled that he can get up to 5 million won a week.

This is why it is pointed out that the government needs thorough supervision to prevent the "false job posting" itself, which is subject to strict punishment under the Employment Procedure Act, from coming up.

In this regard, the government explains that it has been operating a false job advertisement reporting center since the end of last year and is taking active measures such as requesting an investigation or suspending an account.

In addition, it is also a reality that there is no choice but to place relatively more weight on the management of domestic recruitment notices than on overseas employment notices in limited manpower and budget.

However, there is a constant voice that fundamental measures are needed because the risk of abuse and imprisonment is much greater once damage occurs.

[Jo Ji-yeon / People's Power: Job search and recruitment channels have been diversified recently, and job fraud methods have become more sophisticated. It seems necessary to thoroughly monitor and strengthen crackdowns on workplaces suspected of employment fraud at the government level.]

As of last July, the number of young people who "just took a rest" without working or looking for a job reached an all-time high, and some point out that when looking for a job, the adequacy of salaries, high profits, and clarity of work should be carefully examined.
