Rep. Moon Jin-seok of the Democratic Party of Korea, who was indicted on charges of violating the Farmland Act, has been fined.

In August, the Supreme Court confirmed the court case, which sentenced lawmaker Moon and his spouse Roh to a fine of 2 million won each.

The two are accused of acquiring about 1,000 pyeong of farmland in Jangheung, Jeollanam-do, under Roh's name after submitting a false agricultural management plan in April 2017 even though they have no intention of farming.

Earlier, the first and second trials sentenced 2 million won in fines, saying that the two made up the same appearance as agricultural management, and that they could not be considered to have a true intention of agricultural management.

Rep. Moon objected to the second trial's ruling, but his appeal was automatically dismissed by the Supreme Court because he did not submit an appeal within the court period.
