Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon of Sarang First Church was put on trial for demanding money in exchange for nomination of proportional representation during the 22nd general election.

The Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office indicted Pastor Jeon without detention on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act on the 8th.

Pastor Jeon is accused of demanding hundreds of millions of won in donations to prospective candidates for proportional representation of the Liberty Unification Party during the general election in April.

He is also accused of fraudulent campaigning while he was unable to campaign due to limited voting rights, and handing over money and valuables to YouTubers who attended press conferences.

Pastor Jeon has been the leader of the Liberty Unification Party for six months since April 2022 and is currently serving as the representative advisor, but the Liberty Unification Party failed to secure a proportional representation seat in the 22nd general election.
