People's Power lawmakers claimed that Myung and Kim had already submitted a letter of reason for their absence due to the "prosecution investigation," but Democratic Party lawmakers countered that they were key witnesses to uncover suspicions of interference in the presidential office's election.
In response, Chairman Shin Jung-hoon of the Democratic Party of Korea decided to issue a companion order to Myung and Kim, saying that he could not refuse to testify even during the investigation.
In the National Assembly, opposition lawmakers protested that Hwang In-soo, director of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, did not take off his mask for identity protection despite his request for identification, and Hwang and Kim Kwang-dong, chairman of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, were eventually sent off.
