According to the data received by Rep. Jo Ji-yeon of the People's Power from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and others, the number of victims of job fraud, including confinement in Cambodia, Myanmar, and Laos, was 96 by the first half of this year.
This is 48 times higher than two years ago, which is only two cases, and has surpassed last year's overall figure of 92.
Representative Cho pointed out that the government needs to thoroughly monitor and strengthen crackdowns as online recruitment and job search channels have recently diversified and job fraud methods are becoming more sophisticated.
