Owners of explosive models have filed a class action lawsuit in connection with the electric car fire in the underground parking lot of an apartment building in Cheongna-dong, Incheon, in August.

Twenty-four people, including electric car owners of Mercedes EQ series, filed a lawsuit with the Seoul Central District Court today (10th) seeking 10 million won in damages against Mercedes Benz and Mercedes Korea.

The car owner said most EQ series electric cars were fitted with Chinese-made batteries, but Mercedes hid them and deceived them as if they were loaded with CATL batteries, the world's No. 1 battery maker, claiming they were fraudulent contracts.

In addition, Mercedes-Benz tried to conceal the defect without implementing a recall measure even though it was clearly aware of the vehicle defect in the wake of the fire in the underground parking lot of the apartment, adding that it should be liable for punitive damages.

On August 1, an electric car parked in an apartment building in Cheongna-dong, Incheon, caught fire and 20 people were treated at a hospital for smoke, and 800 vehicles were burned or burned.
