Rafael Nadal, who dominated the clay court as one of the men's "Big Three" tennis players, has announced his retirement.

Nadal said on his personal social media that he is retiring from professional tennis after next month's Davis Cup.

"The last two years have been a really tough time, and it's taken time to make a decision," Nadal said. "Everything in the world has a beginning and an end."

Nadal, who entered the professional league in 2001, is a living legend who has won 22 singles in major tournaments, and has reigned as the "big three" of men's tennis for over a decade, along with Federer and Djokovic.

In particular, he won the French Open on clay 14 times and was called the "King of clay courts."
