In the midst of the parliamentary conflict for eight months, a public debate was held involving the government and medical personnel.

However, a tight tug-of-war continued on major issues, overshadowing the meaning of legislative dialogue.

Four people from the government and the medical community gathered together to discuss the current government's healthcare reform.

The president's office accepted the proposal for a discussion by Seoul National University Medical School.

Jang Sang-yoon, senior presidential secretary for social affairs, welcomed the conversation but reiterated the need to increase medical schools.

[Jang Sang-yoon / Senior Presidential Secretary for Social Affairs: The number of insufficient doctors will more than double, not 10,000, in 2035. In other words, it comes to the conclusion that an additional 2,000 people are not needed, but at least 4,000 people are actually needed.

On the other hand, doctors countered that the immediate problem should be solved, such as reducing unnecessary medical use.

[Ha Eun-jin / Emergency Response Committee Member of the Seoul National University Medical School and Hospital Professors' Council: Vulnerable patients usually die of side effects even before a strong prescription works. If this continues, the system of Korean medical care is likely to collapse even before the effect of medical reform is seen.

Also, regarding medical student leave of absence, I nailed that it is impossible to end the class that I have not been able to do so far from now on.

[Kang Hee-kyung / Chairman of the Emergency Response Committee of the Seoul National University Medical School and Hospital Professors' Council: Imagine you have a second-year high school child. I didn't go to high school in spring and summer, so do you think I can start from October and finish the school year? It's impossible.]

But the government reaffirmed that taking a leave of absence is not a right, and that taking a collective alliance leave of absence is not acceptable.

Regarding the recent controversy over shortening medical education, he also dismissed the current six-year course.

[Jang Sang-yoon / Senior Presidential Secretary for Social Affairs: (U.S. medical students) came from a hiatus, but shouldn't we admit it if they offer something to cover it? If so, it was said that if the school suggested it, they would accept it..]

Legislative talks have been held in limbo for eight months, but the discussion ended with only a clear difference in positions between the two sides.

On top of that, it is uncertain whether the conversation with the government itself will continue in the future, with internal criticism from the medical community that the conversation itself is a transfer act.
