Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance Choi Sang-mok said the government will respond to this year's expected shortfall in national tax revenue by making the most of the available resources within the government.

Deputy Prime Minister Choi made the remarks yesterday (10th) regarding the "tax-punk" measures worth about 30 trillion won during the parliamentary inspection of the National Assembly's Strategy and Finance Committee at the Sejong Government Complex.

Deputy Prime Minister Choi said, "We are discussing with relevant ministries and local governments the situation of the fund balance and ways to minimize the burden on local governments," adding, "We will come up with specific measures within this month for local grant tax and local education financial grants."

He also said that the National Assembly and specialized agencies will participate in all stages of tax estimation to increase transparency and accountability, while strengthening the estimation capacity by improving the tax estimation model and expanding professional manpower.

At the same time, he said he would promote fiscal rule legislation for responsible fiscal management, revitalizing private investment through innovation in the private business system and increasing the use of state-owned property for public interest purposes.
