North Korea has sent dozens of military engineers to the front line with Ukraine to support Russia's operation of North Korean ballistic missiles, the British daily Guardian reported on the 10th local time, citing Ukrainian officials.

Dozens of North Korean technical personnel are reportedly deployed to the front to "support the North Korean-made KN-23 missile launch system," a Ukrainian source said.

The Guardian diagnosed that North Korea's ammunition delivery played a decisive role in Russia's advance into eastern Ukraine this summer.

At the same time, he analyzed that the possibility that the agreement between North Korea and Russia has exceeded the level of material aid seems to be increasing.

In particular, foreigners have fought with Russian mercenaries, but if it is true that North Korean personnel have been deployed on the ground, it is the first time since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine that a foreign government has sent troops to support Russia, he added.

Earlier this month, Ukrainian media reported that six North Korean officers were among the 20 people killed in a Ukrainian missile strike in a Russian-occupied area near Donetsk in eastern Ukraine.

In addition, more than three North Korean soldiers were reportedly injured, apart from the dead.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, however, dismissed claims that North Korea had sent troops to Ukraine as "fake news."

Earlier in June, Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean State Councilor Kim Jong-un signed a "comprehensive strategic partnership treaty" in Pyongyang that calls for the other to provide military aid if one side is invaded.
