Sejong Mayor Choi Min-ho, who had been fasting for six days, urged to pass the International Garden City Fair and the Light Festival supplementary budget bill, suspended the fasting due to poor health.

Mayor Choi came out of the tent where he was fasting and waited for the city council's conclusion, but he said he would stop fasting for the next time because he felt his energy was falling sharply.

He then said he would convey his position on the council's conclusions in a separate press release and headed to a nearby hospital in an ambulance at the health center.

Mayor Choi will reportedly take a break and return to work as soon as he recovers next week.

The Sejong City Council's Special Committee on Budget and Accounts, which took place afterwards, cut all additional budget plans such as the garden fair with the approval of all six lawmakers from the Democratic Party of Korea.

In response, Kim Ha-kyun, the city's administrative mayor, expressed regret over the council's decision to cut the total amount, and once again said he felt miserable and helpless.
