On the first day of early voting for the October 16 by-elections, the ruling and opposition parties exchanged harsh negative attacks.

People's Power criticized the transfer as a "Busan Helicopter Run" when Lee Jae-myung was attacked, and the Democratic Party of Korea called for a crackdown on "illegal election campaigns," citing suspicions raised during the last general election.

The People's Power slammed Democratic Party Chairman Lee Jae-myung's move from Busan National University Hospital to Seoul National University Hospital during the attack in January as a "helgy run."

The daughter of Cho Kuk, the leader of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, also launched an all-out offensive against the opposition party, citing the case in which all Busan University medical students were canceled due to forgery of documents.

On the other hand, the Democratic Party of Korea launched a counterattack by accusing Yoo Chul-hwan, chairman of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, on the grounds that the committee's disciplinary action against Busan National University medical staff itself applied the wrong regulations.

In Ganghwa, Incheon, where the county by-election is held, he also threatened not to conduct "illegal election campaigns," saying there were suspicions of "carrying voters" during the early voting of the last general election.

Controversy arose when Kim Young-bae of the Democratic Party wrote on social media that the power of the people "provided cause" at a time when the by-election was held due to the death of Kim Jae-yoon, the former head of Geumjeong-gu.

Rep. Kim apologized to the deceased and his bereaved family, saying it was his fault, as representative Han Dong-hoon pointed out, "Let's not be monsters."

In the midst of this, Cho Kuk, the leader of the Innovation Party, met voters in and out of glory, and Kim Jae-yeon, the leader of the Progressive Party, also stayed in glory all day, realizing the "Honam blood fight" of the opposition.

In the heat of the election, pre-voting rates on the first day of Gokseong and Yeonggwang in Jeollanam-do were both around 24%, higher than in other regions.

Ganghwa in Incheon recorded 14%, Busan recorded 9%, and Seoul recorded 3%, respectively, and the overall early voting rate was 3.55%.

The by-elections are heating up in an unpredictable situation, with the opposition camp looking beyond Busan Geumjeong, a traditional strong region of the ruling party, and the Cho Kuk Innovation Party and the Progressive Party threatening the Democratic Party's stronghold in Honam.
