The EU Commission sent a request for information to Temu under the Digital Services Act and DSA on the 11th local time, asking them to submit information taken to prevent illegal goods sellers and internal documents related to this.
The request for information also included submitting measures to prevent the spread of illegal products and protect user data.
The deadline for the response is the 21st, and the EU will decide whether to open an official DSA violation investigation based on the reply.
Insufficient responses or providing false information may result in fines.
DSA is a law introduced to prevent the spread of online false information and harmful, illegal products or content, and prohibits the use of sensitive personal data or so-called "targeted advertisements" aimed at minors.
Since February, it has been implemented on all online platforms except for those with less than 50 employees and less than 10 million euros in annual sales.
In particular, stronger regulations will be applied if it is separately designated as a "super large online platform," and Temu was also separately designated here in May.
