China's consumer price index CPI rose 0.4% in September from a year earlier, its eighth straight month of gains, the country's National Bureau of Statistics said.

China's CPI rose 0.7% in February this year from the same period last year due to the Spring Festival effect, and has been rising for eight consecutive months until September after turning upward for the first time in six months.

On the other hand, the producer price index PPI fell 2.8% in September from a year ago, marking its 24th straight month of decline, the longest since 2016.

China's PPI, which had been on a 2% decline earlier this year, has seen a slight decline since May, but it recorded its biggest drop this year again last month.
