The U.S. will deploy THAAD and operational forces together, and if realized, it will be a direct defense of Israel by putting U.S. troops on the ground.
Israel is coordinating with the U.S. over retaliation for Iran's ballistic missile attack on the 1st, and Iran warns it will respond more strongly if Israel retaliates.
There are no more than 100 troops needed to operate THAAD, but it is unclear how quickly the U.S. will be able to deploy it to Israel.
The White House did not respond to inquiries for coverage, the Wall Street Journal added.
