says Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has approved the deployment of THAAD batteries under President Joe Biden's direction.
Ryder explained that the move represents an ironclad U.S. commitment to Israel's defense and is designed to defend against further Iranian ballistic missile attacks.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi warned that the U.S. was putting U.S. soldiers at risk after reports that the U.S. was deploying THAAD to Israel.
Israel, which has vowed to retaliate against Iran's massive missile attack on the 1st, is coordinating the level of response with the United States.
It is not yet known when and where THAAD will be deployed.
The U.S. has already deployed one THAAD battery and a Patriot missile battalion to the Middle East since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October last year.
