The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education said it plans to open the "Incheon Education Museum" with a total project cost of 10.3 billion won, aiming to open in 2029.
A plan to remodel the building of the Nambu Office of Education in Songhak-dong, Jung-gu, Incheon, and decorate the museum with 1 basement floor, 4 floors above ground, and a total floor area of 1,855㎡ is being promoted.
The interior exhibition room is planned to be filled with textbooks, graduation albums, and study dioceses by period, covering the history of education in Incheon from the Goryeo and Joseon periods to the modern era.
Outside, we plan to install a signpost indicating that the site was the site of Korea's first modern park, Freedom Park, and a stepping board with a 100-year-old list of Incheon schools.
The Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education plans to secure the project cost through a local financial investment review after receiving a preliminary evaluation of the feasibility of establishing an education museum from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
If the construction of the education museum is confirmed, the building of the Nambu Office of Education plans to relocate to the site of the former Hyoyeol Elementary School in Dohwa-dong, Michuhol-gu, at the end of 2027.
