Former chief of staff Kim Dae-ki has been appointed as the new ambassador to China.

The president's office explained that former chief of staff Kim was an orthodox economic official and had extensive experience in promoting economic cooperation projects with China, including the Korea-China FTA and resolving trade conflicts between Korea and China.

He also said that he has been interested in Korea-China relations, focusing on economic issues, and has focused on China's social and cultural history. He also said that he expected Korea to achieve diplomatic achievements in Northeast Asia order as well as continuing to develop strategic partnership between the two countries with high-level Chinese proficiency.

Kim served as the presidential chief of staff from May 2022 to the end of last year, and served as the policy chief of the Lee Myung Bak government, the senior secretary for economy, the vice minister of culture, sports and tourism, and the head of the National Statistical Office.

In August, former presidential chief of staff Kim Dae-ki was dispatched as a special envoy for the inauguration of the Dominican Republic.
