In Gaza, where fighting between Israel and Hamas continues, international organizations have begun a second round of vaccinations to prevent the spread of polio.

the World Health Organization The WHO, together with the United Nations Children's Fund, said it will begin a second vaccination project for polio on the 14th local time.

The project, which targets children under the age of 10, will be divided into central, southern, and northern Gaza for three to four days, as in the first vaccination last month.

More than 559,000 children who have received the first dose are eligible.

The second vaccination is intended to reliably block the spread of poliovirus, and the WHO believes that the spread of the virus can be prevented only after completing the second vaccination for more than 90% of the first vaccinated people.

More than 800 medical teams from the WHO and UNICEF plan to visit refugee camps and temporary shelters to get vaccinated.

A WHO official said, "Temporary suspension of fighting is a prerequisite for second vaccination," adding, "At the time of the first vaccination, children outside the area where fighting was suspended were not inoculated."
