A British man in his 20s died in Spain after falling while climbing a 192m-high bridge.

On the 14th local time, the Guardian and other British daily reported that a 26-year-old British man fell while climbing the Castilla La Mancha Bridge across the Tagus River in the central Spanish city of Talavera de la Reyna.

According to a statement from local authorities, the man climbed the bridge to produce content for social media (SNS) and was accompanied by a 24-year-old British man at the scene.

Councilman Macarena Muñoz stressed that climbing the Castile-La Mancha Bridge was completely banned and was not permitted under any circumstances.

Local police said both the deceased and their surviving colleagues were climbing without protective equipment.

The British Foreign Ministry said it was also in touch with local authorities, but did not disclose the names of its citizens who died.

The Castile-La Mancha bridge, which was opened in 2011, is Spain's highest cable-stayed bridge and stands on the Tagus River. The structure of the 192m bridge consists of a concrete tower with several cables in a triangular shape from the center.
